Having a blog enables me to voice my opinion in a rather direct manner instead of perhaps being buried on some site full of reviews – though I’ll no doubt give a review of the product on several major sites as well.
We have several children, a couple that are transitioning from bottle to sippy cups. We have owned a variety of sippy cups over the years from various manufacturers. Bar none, the Nuby 8 oz. No Spill Cup With Super Spout sippy cup is one of if not the worst products we’ve bought – and we’ve bought some products that turned out to be duds…
The babies love the feel of the cup. It gives and feels like the nipple of a baby bottle; and considering the design it looks promising. Promising is about as far as it goes.
The thing leaks. We bought a two pack and both of them leaked. So, we returned them to the store thinking it a fluke and got another set. They leak too. So, it’s not a fluke. It’s poor design. It leaks where the “gasket” meets the cup.
Nothing quite annoying and exasperating like trying to give your babies some milk, only to have the thing leak, and realize these cups are the only useable sippy cups you presently have.
We purchased ours at Target. I’m unaware of where else this product might be purchased. This was our first time purchasing Nuby products and will probably be our last, even if some of their other products actually do work as the manufacturer claims.
So, from a family with multiple kids and has bought and been given multiple brands of sippy cups, we do not recommend buying or using this Nuby sippy cup.
If you have some good brand and style of sippy cups to recommend, please feel free to pass along the information. Thanks.

- Tuesday Tip: What’s the Best Sippy Cup? I May Finally Know! (momvschaos.com)
This post made me laugh (I apologize for my insensitivity).
I’ve worked in the 1-year-old nursery at my church for 10 years, and have used the same Playtex sippy cups that whole time. They’re pretty old, so I don’t think the exact model is available anymore, but they’re very similar to these: http://www.amazon.com/Playtex-Sipster-Cup-Pack-Colors/dp/B000056JAK/ref=sr_1_4?s=baby-products&ie=UTF8&qid=1324050339&sr=1-4
These cups have been dishwashed and sanitized every week for at least 10 years. They’ve been chewed, thrown across the room, banged upsidedown on high-chair trays, and they refuse to leak! Sure, they aren’t ergonomic like the fancy new brands, but the kiddos don’t mind. Actually, they’re good practice because they’re shaped a lot like the real glasses your kids will have to use later on. They can get a good grip by wrapping both hands around it.
Our church recently invested in a few of these sippy cups as well: http://www.amazon.com/Gerber-Graduates-Grips-spill-Colors/dp/B00278WA4W/ref=pd_sim_ba_5 I haven’t had any leaking problems with them either, and they are a little more ergonomical if that is important to you.
Hope this helps! And again, sorry I laughed.
Nah, no offense taken. Sometimes it’s good to laugh… so you don’t cry!
Though we do want to scream when the babies throw the sippy cup and as it smacks the floor it opens up, spilling its contents all over the floor.
Thank you for the recommendations. We will look at them.
